中国教育电视台（CETV）创办于1986年，是中华人民共和国教育部直属、国内唯一的国家级专业电视台。
中国教育电视台第一套节目通过东经134度亚太1A卫星传送，第二套节目通过东经110.5度鑫诺1号卫星传送，覆盖全国及东南亚地区。第三套节目面向北京开路发射，覆盖北京及其周边地区。全国85%以上的省地级有线电视网转播中国教育电视台第一套节目。
As the only specialized national TV station China Education TV (CETV) was founded in 1986 under the direct instruction of the Ministry of Education(MOE).
CETV-1 via APSTAR-1A and CETV-2 via Sino-1 cover all parts of China and the most regions of Southeast Asian. CETV-3 is a local channel of Beijing.
Over 85% provincial and local cable TV are relaying the program of CETV-1.

The Chinese government pays more attention on the development of CETV to establish a life-long education and studying service system in order to improve the national quality. Our target is to create a biggest distance learning platform, CEBsat, in the near future.
CETV-1是以教育、教学为主的综合教育频道。主要播出教育、科技、文化、卫生、体育节目，其中教育教学节目为主体。每天播出时间为5：55至1：50，共计20余小时。主要栏目有《教育新闻联播》、《关注》、《我想知道》、《伴随成长》、《走向明天》、《知心家庭》、《中国教师》、《学术报告厅》、《空中外语学校》、《艺术鉴赏》、《电脑之夜》、《专题片欣赏》、《健康你我他》、《岁月如歌》、《生命在线》等。
CETV-1 broadcasts on 20 hours daily basis, which includes education, science, cultural, health, sports and so on. The main programs are Education News, Forces, I Want to Know, Grow up Together, Tomorrow, Family Communication, Chinese Teacher, Science Report, "oreign Language School in the sky, Arts, Computer Night, documentaries, Health for You, Song of the Life, Life on Line.
CETV-2是以播出中央广播电视大学课程为主的教学频道。每天为6：35至23：30，共计18小时，主要内容有文法、财经、理工、农医等科类59个专业、300多门必修课程。同时播出中国燎原广播电视学校电视课程和其他培训节目。
There are about 18 hours programs a day in CETV-2 and the main programs are especially for the 59 subjects courses of CRTVU. And there are some agriculture, teacher's training programs in this channel.
CETV-3为面向北京地区的青少频道，通过无线发射和有线网传输，覆盖北京地区及与天津、河北相邻周边地区，每天播出时间为6：00至1：45，共计20个小时节目，主要栏目包括：《今天我在家》、《校园点歌台》、《卡通世界》、《首播剧场》等。
CETV-3 is a local channel mainly facing the children and youth in Beijing. It's about 20 hours a day and the main programs are I'm home today, Campus MTV, Cartoon, Premiere Plays and so on.
1999年，中国教育电视台受国家教育部委托，承建了以卫星视频系统为基础的现代化远程教育网络。该网络集电视、语音、IP数据广播节目于一体，与中国教育科研网高速联接，是全国规模最大的、天地合一的、具有交互功能的远程教育专业服务网。该网已于2000年投入使用。
